Community Involvement

Epic Life’s community involvement seeks to facilitate opportunities for God’s love, justice, and mercy to be made tangible in North Seattle through relationships.

Scripture teaches us that faith without works is dead (James 5:16), that the second greatest commandment given by Jesus is to love your neighbor as yourself (Luke 22:39), and that we were created with specific gifts distributed by the Holy Spirit to serve and build up others (Ephesians 4:12). Just as Christ modeled his love by becoming flesh and dwelling among us to make salvation known (John 1:14), we now have the mandate as Christians to embody Christ’s love to others in tangible, holistic ways. This journey begins right in our own families, backyards, sidewalks and streets.

“Christ has no body now but yours. No hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes through which he looks compassion on this world. Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good. Yours are the hands through which he blesses all the world.” – Teresa of Avila

The Giving Room food bank

The Giving Room food bank is hosted at Epic Life Church and open on Mondays from 9:30am – 12:30pm*. The Giving Room exists to be God’s extended arms to embrace, build up and provide for our neighborhood in their physical, relational and spiritual needs. We seek to be prayerfully present with those on the margins, with an openness both to be personally transformed by these relationships and to be used by God to bring our neighbors closer to His heart, one step at a time. We offer food, friendship, prayer, a door into safe community. Learn more at thegivingroomseattle.org

*Food distribution is from 9:30am-12:30pm on Mondays. Guests must arrive by 12:15pm to shop in our grocery store-style food bank. Visit our website for more information

School Partnership

We partner with Northgate Elementary, a beautifully diverse local school that also has great needs (24% are classified as homeless, 77% are on free or reduced lunch). We seek to share in God’s concern for students, families and teachers by building relationships and by meeting practical needs throughout the year.

LIHI Friendship Heights Tiny Village Partnership

We partner with Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI) Friendship Heights Tiny Village in North Seattle by bringing any remaining produce, bread, and prepared foods from our weekly food bank distribution, as well as by meeting practical and spiritual needs throughout the year.

Church Partnership

We recognize that we are just one thread in a larger tapestry that God is weaving in Seattle, and we are blessed to be involved with other Churches and non-profits as we work toward a common vision that Jesus describes when He prays: “May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me” (John 17:22). Currently our church partnership efforts find their expression in a weekly North Seattle pastors gathering, an annual joint worship service, joint community service opportunities, and ongoing exploration of further collaboration. We are grateful for the work that Light Up the City does to support the work of partnership and are proud to be a part of their network encompassing the greater Seattle area. We also worship alongside three other churches at The Axis, our church building: Berhane Hiwot Eriterean Church, Eternal Joy Mongolian Christian Church, and Chuukese Chinese Christian Church.
